The national electricity
system consists of :
An interconnected
transmission network which covers the Northen and
partially the southern part of the country, to which are
connected generation plants and major industrial
customers,
Distribution networks serving the rest of the customers
(households, services, SMEs / SMIs.)
Twenty-five
isolated systems, powered by gas turbines (Adrar,
Illizi, In Salah) or diesel generators serving the
cities of the South, through distribution
networks.
The total length of the transmission system, managed by the GRTE
rises to nearly 20,370 km in 2009.
National production reached 42,77 TWh, in 2009. The total
production capacity amounts to 11 324 MW.
Electricity sales amounted to 33,8 TWh in 2009,
